But before she became a companion to Moses, explorers, heroes, and historical figures, Lucy was simply our beagle—the faithful friend, with a slightly kinked tail, who inspired it all.

The Lucy Archives began the way many good stories do—with a child asking for one more story before bed.
One evening, my grandson Liam asked me to tell him a story about Lucy. So I did. I imagined our faithful beagle stepping into history and quietly walking beside the people we already knew from the stories.
That bedtime story became Moses and the Red Sea.
And somewhere along the way, I realized Lucy had many more places to go.
I’m David Michael Whiteman, DC—a retired chiropractor, lifelong storyteller, husband, father, grandfather, and, perhaps most importantly for these stories, Papa.
The Lucy Archives grew from my love of family, faith, history, curiosity, and one very special beagle.
My hope is simple: that these stories give children and the grown-ups who read with them something to discover, something to talk about, and maybe even something to believe in.
